| Of Interest to Breeders... |

| |
At sometime or another, most of us have chosen
to go beyond just "owning" a pet. Many of us have also contemplated
the idea of breeding one or more of those pets. Whether professional
or novice, the reality is that there will be new "housing" needs to
consider for various reasons. Often, adults must be separated, either
females from other females, or males from females. At other times, young
must be contained. The following information is meant to help suggest
possible solutions for different needs you may have. |

| The word "queen" most often refers to a breedable female. "Queening" refers to the taking care of the newborn. And "Queen Pens" refer to enclosures suitable for the needs of breeders and other animal caretakers who desire to enclose multiple animals in the most efficient manner. Our Queen Pens, therefore, are designed with several levels and/or columns in which many separate units are contained in limited space. QUEEN PENS are by far our most versatile units; dividers may be easily removed for a larger unitm, and litter pans can be removed to provide access to multiple levels. Our Queen Pens are classified as Multi-Unit Cages and can be found (along with other possibilities) on the Multi-Unit Cage page. |

For the
breeder with limited space or budget, separation can be achieved with
a basic 2-level "Condo" which can be expanded as the need arises. |

The Condo on the
left has also been recommended by breeders who let the mother have her
litter in the bottom level. If the recessed litter pan option is chosen
and the litter pan is left out of the hole, the mother can travel up
to the top level to get away from the litter for a break... Leave the
top door open, and she can |

| For males, larger "holding" areas are generally desired. | ||||||||||||||||

| You may find that when inviting guests into your home to look at young kittens, rather than let the kittens run loose around the room, a Kitten Display Pen may be the answer. It allows one or two kittens to be handled and then easily put back. | ||||||||||||||||
